CANADA AND AUSTRALIA “GOODWILL” SHIP WELuOAIED ' OTTAWA, Oct. 24. Welcoming officially the “Goodwill” ship Canadian Constructor in its “promising adventure in inter-Empire trade,” the Premier. ALr. It. B. Bennett, on Friday night, greeted Captain Webb, of the vessel, before she reached Canadian shores.. The Premier sent a special message both of affection and warm regard, “coupled with an expression of my confident belief that tho wonderful efforts which the Commonwealth Government and the people of Australia are now making will shortly lead them out of all their present difficulties, into which this great world, depression has so unhappily plunged them.’’ The Premier expressed ‘lie opinion that, “unless we within the Empire are united and present a solid front we certainly will not reach that prosperous state which it is our hope to attain.” The kinship of Canada and Australia was stressed on Friday night at a joint dinner of the Alontreal branch of the Canadian Manufacturers’ Association, La Chambre do Commerce and the Board of Trade, to the Australia trade party. The Mayor, Mr. Houde, iu an address, hoped for ever-improving relations between Australian arid Canadian interests, v Mr. A. E. Hyland, director of Australian trade publicity, said: “The new Canadian-Australian 'treaty was a milestone not merely of Empire but also of world affairs.”
