About 30 prospective trainee members of the East Coast Mounted Rifle unit with is being formed in Gisborne were on parade last evening, when the mcdienl inspection of recruits and the formal attestations for service were carried out. Sergeant-Major Ferrett, who has been transferred to Gisborne to supervise the work of the mounted rifle unit, was present and expressed himself as well pleased with the material offering for the training term. A further parade will be held next Thursday, when a large number of country recruits will he examined and sworn in. This parade will have an unusually interesting feature in the attendance of former members of the Fast 'Coast Mounted Rifles who were among the first recruits to that regiment when it was) initiated, long before compulsory military training became a live topic in New Zealand. These veterans will give the recruits of 1931 Hie benefit of their experience in the corps, and the training of thp reorganised unit- should commence under tho most favorable auspices,
