AUSTRALIAN WHEAT
PLIGHT OF GROWERS GRAIN UNSALEABLE (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) . (Received Dec. 31, 10 a.m.) SYDNEY, Dec. 31. The deplorable plight of wheatgrowers is exemplified in the latest announcement that merchants have ceased operating. Practically no shipments are being arranged, and silo facilities are wholly incapable of holding the wheat being harvested, because 1,000,000 bushels of last season’s wheat is still on hand at terminal elevators. Furthermore, farmers have-not the ready cash to buy bags. It is officially stated that wheat is practically unsaleable. Argentine grain i,s being offered in London at 2s (id a bushel, and Australian at 3s 03d.
