A JUNGLE BATTLE
BURMESE INSURGENTS HEAVY LOSSES SUSTAINED DELHI, Dec. 30. Faced with the alternative of lighting or sturendering, the Tharrawuddy insurgents chose the former and yesterdaj gave buttle to a detachment of the second loth i’unjabis near the village ol Udo.
The rebels, armed with rifles, sporting guns and yshort Burmese swords, opened nre on the i’unjabis, causing a few casualties.
The soldiers returned the fire, killing 60 and wounding 36. The remainder retreated to the jungle, followed by the Punjabis, who continued to fire, but the casualties are unknown. Seven hundred men of the Burma Rifles, armed with machine guns, joined in the pursuit.
