AN UNLUCKY CHILD

CAUSES TWO ACCIDENTS

(Special to the Herald.) AUCKLAND, this day

A small child on the Niagara was indirectly responsible for two accidents which occurred while the liner was en route from Vancouver to Auckland. In both cases people who were playing with the child tripped on the deck and received injuries. A third class passenger, Mr. E. L. Freeman, was the first victim. He was playing with the child on the deck when he fell violently and received a compound fracture of the right leg, which necessitated his removal to hospital on arrival of the liner at Auckland.

Three days Inter the child, was running down a corridor when a stewardess. Mrs. Waters, emerging from a cabin door, stepped on a ball the child was playing with. She tripped over and received a simple fracture of the left arm. An X-ray examination was made on shore yesterday, and the sufferer will lie able! to proceed to Sydney.
