DEEP SEA PISHING

SOME GOOD CATCHES * (Special to tho Herald.) AUCKLAND, this day. A mako shark weighing 5211 b. was caught off Cape Brett on Saturday by Mr. G. Ellis, of Russell, when fishing from a launch. Tho fish breached eight times and fought for an hour and 35 minutes before being landed. Mr. Lee Ridge, of Remuera, fishing from Deep Water Cove in a launch, caught a fine mako shark of 5931 b. The fish was lift, long and gave a fine display for over; two hours, leaping high into the air several times. It was the heaviest fish caught this Season. Mr. Peter Gardner, of Kamo, caught a fish weighing 1501 b., and Mr. L. L. Bird, of Whangarei, landed a mako weighing 3081 b.
