MILLION DOLLAR DEBUT
OIL KING’S DAUGHTER RECORD FOR LAVISHNESS WASHINGTON, Dec. 27. A million dollar debut party, the night after Christmas, of rare proportions, occurred here when Mr. Henry Doherty, oil magnate, and Mrs. Doherty presented their daughter Helen to society. Neither of the women wore jewels.
Special trains from the. principal cities in the United States brought the guests. Entire floors of tlie largest hotel, with several ball rooms, were engaged. Several thousand persons attended, and the extent and expensiveness of the decorations, music, refreshments, etc., turn do the event the most lavish of its kind in the history of American society. It is understood 1 hat the outlav involved was one million dollars.
