SECOND EDITION HANGAROA RIDING

RESULT OF DIVISION OLD COUNCILLORS RE-ELECTED. For tlie fourth time within 12 months, ( Vs. Iv. H. linker and M. T. ]!. Halt have been re-elected ns members of the took County Council, and three times out of this number they have had no opposition. The latest occasion of their election was to-day, when the nominations closed for the newly-formed To Arolia and Tiniroto ridings. 'Theirs were the only nominations. These two councillors have had an exceedingly chequered career on the council during (lie. past 12 months. On the first division of the llangaroa riding, an election was advertised about a year ago, and Crs. Baker and Hall were, returned unopposed, while they were similarly re-elected a few weeks later at the general counly elections. With the upsetting of the special order creating two ridings in place of one, they again lost their seats on the council, hut. regained them after facing an election for thp reinstated llangaroa- riding. Now, with the re-division of the riding, they will be back again, but were not present at to-day’s council meeting. •‘They have been valued members on the council,” commented (lie chairman, Cr. Chas. Matthews, at to-day’s meeting, when the announcement of their re-election was made, ‘‘and 1 am sure that I am voicing your opinion that we are glad to see them both hack again.”
