RUGBY FOOTBALL
COUNTRY JUNIOR GAME 11.5.0.8. DEFEAT PIRATES Playing at Waipaoa the 11.5.0.8. juniors defeated the home club’s (Pirates) junior fifteen, after a close and exciting game, which was witnessed by a large number of the district enthusiasts. Last year when the two junior teams met on the same ground the Pirates scored a win, but this season’s opening game resulted in a victory for 11.5.0.8. by live points to nil. The better team won, but there might have been a good many more points registered if the players had kept the pace on in the second half as in the first, Pirates were over-keen, and lost one good scoring opportunity by going ahead of the ball a the critical moment. The game was capably controlled by Mr. S. Maguinnoss, of Ormond.
