PIG INDUSTRY
BIG FORWARD MOVE . A determined move to place the bacon and pork industry of the Dominion on a better footing) is foreshadowed by the convening of a Dominion-wide conference of the various interests affected, which is to take place at Palmerston North on April 30. Its main object is consideration of what steps should be taken toward the introduction of a system of compulsory grading for porkers and baconers, The conference is being convened by tho New Zealand Pig Breeders' Association, and will be representative of all branches of the New Zealand Farmers' Unfon, tho Dairy Farmers' Union, some 200 dairy factories, the Meat Board, and members of Parliament. Representatives of bacon factories are also being invited to attend.
