THE LABOR DEPARTMENT
AUCKLAND ALLEGATIONS (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. An attack on the methods of the Auckland branch of the Labor Department was made by a deputation from the Trades and Labor Council to the Hon. W. A. Veitch to-day. Mr. .T. Purtell, president of the council, complained, on behalf of union secretaries, that their complaints were dealt with only after a delay, or not. dealt with at all. It wa.s also alleged that union secretaries had complained of breaches of awards, hut the department had taken no action, with the result that the union itself took action and was successful. The Minister promised u full inquiry.
