Mr. and Mrs F. Barwick leave tomorrow for Wellington, whore they join the s.s. Tahiti en route to Sydney. The engagement is announced of Juanita, only daughter of Mr H. Vloiser, of Gisborne,'and 'Walter, son of Mr. and Mrs. N. 'McMillan, of Waipaoa. Gisborne.

Mr. Andrew "Woods, who has been appointed conductor of the Gisborne City Band, is expected to arrive in Gisborne about the middle of this month. Mr. Woods linn had a long experience with brass bands, and hold an important position in the XZ.F.F. band oragnisatiou. Recently ho has had charge of the Balclutha Hoys' Hand, a well-known unit.

On leaving the staff of Messrs. Grundy and .Shennan, Mr. George Sisterson was met by his late fellowworkers and made the recipient of a presentation comprising a wristlet watch and wallet, as tokens of esteem. Mr, A. I>. Campbell made the presentation, and in a- brief speech eulogised the sterling qualities of .Mr. Sisterson, to whom, on behalf of the staff, he extended (he heartiest wishes for success in the future. Mr. Sisterson made a suitable response.

Mr. Goorge Forbes, of Cambridge, has arrived in Gisborne to take over the management of the Okitn butter factory as successor to Air. C. Lambert, who has resigned. Mr. Forbes, who was appointed from over 50 applicants, has been with the Cambridge Cooperative Dairy Co., Ltd., for the past 10 yents, and during that timo the company annexed the Weddelt Cup, open to all New Zealand factories in grading average competition, while other successes were, secured at a number of dairy shows. Tn addition, at the Waikato Winter Show Air. Forbes secured first prize in the butter grading competition in strong competition among CO entrants. His experience includes .study at Mnssey College, where he secured his testing diploma, while he also holds a first engineer 's certificate.
