THE GISBORNE CLUB TO-MORROW NIGHT'S CARNIVAL Some keen contests are anticipated at tiie Uisborne Amateur Surf and Swim ming Club's carnival to be held at the High School Laths tomorrow evening. The principal event nn Ihe programme, will be the 220yds. men's club championship, which will be contested by D. W. AlcKeague, R. Colebourne, K. Bradley, and J. Miller. The race should provide the best tussle of the carnival, and it is hoped that the Poverty Bay record, 2min. 47 3-ssec, established by R. Richardson in the High School bath's on January 30, 1929, will be lowered. The first heat of the 100yds. men's handicap will serve as a test race between M. Owen, P. Murphy, J. Crawford, T. Wauchop, and R. Murphy, all of whom will start Oil' the same mark, and the winner will be included in the Swain Memorial team to compete at the Hawke's Bay provincial championships this month. Another item of consider able interest will be the water polo match between teams representing possibles and probables, and at' the conclusion of the game the team to represent the club will be announced.
