STATEMENT BY PREMIER POSITION NOW QUIET (Special to the Herald.) WELLINGTON, this day. The latest information received by tho Prime Minister in regard-to the disturbance at Apia on Saturday includes the death from wounds of High Chief Tamasese, leader of the Man. The Administrator, Colonel S. S. Allen, has officially advised that the casualties as far as are known are: Police, one killed, six injured, none severely. Sarrioans, eight killed, including those died of wounds, and also Tamasese, who died yesterday, and 12 wounded, who Were treated in hospital. From 1500 to 2CCO Mail paraded on Saturday, and about 300'to6k part in the attack on tho police, the attack lasting only a few minutes. Afterwards members of the Man hurried off to Vaimoso. The advice states that the'Man has'now dispersed, and no further incidents are expected. A full meeting of Cabinet has been called for to-morrow morning to consider the trouble. "Sir Joseph Ward stated to-dav that the loss of life as a result of the disturbance was' greatly to be deplored, but the information to hand showed conclusively "that ! tho police acted with great' forbearance, and'that firearms were used only as a last resort.
