N.Z. ASSOCIATION

ACTIVITIES IN LONDON PROSPEROUS ORGANISATION LONDON, Nov. 14. From the statement made by the chairman of committee, Mr. Hal Williams, at tho animal meeting of the New 'Zealand Association, it is rjuito . evident that this organisation is a proa- j perous and useful one. I Mr. Williams stated that 30 new members had been elected during the year. The membership was now 244. During the year the association had arranged a lunch to General Sir George Richardson, when 103 guests were present. At the annual dinner there were 247 present. At the reception and ball there 'were 229 guests, and at the lunch in honor of the M.C.C. cricket team there were 128 present. "We have nothing at all upon which? we can invite criticism," said Mr . Williams. Wo are quite pleased with ourselves. Referring to the coming year, Mr. Williams said they would, be holding a farewell luncheon to Sir James Parr, probably on December 16; they would be welcoming the new High Commissioner at a lunch; the annual dinner would be held on April 10, and at this the members of the Rugby touring team and other leading English sportsmen would be entertained. Luncheons would also bo given in honor of the homecoming Governor-General and the newly appointed one. The president, Sir James Parr, who was in the chair, said it was quite evident the association was in a very healthy position, and had been a success since its formation two years ago. He thought the practice of having as the president, ex-officio the High Commissioner was the right one. Personally, he had found the association of tho' greatest assistance in entertaining those people who should be entertained, and no doubt the representatives of a grateful Government, would be on the wharf at Wellington to. congratulate him on thus keeping down the entertainment expenses. (Laughter.) Mr. C. ,T. Wray, treasurer, stated that the balance in hand was £266. New: Zealand Herald.
