TRAGEDY AT PA
TWO CHILDREN POISONED (Special to the Herald.) HAMILTON, this day. Two young Maori children were found dead in bed at a pa near Tauwharc yesterday morning, having apparently eaten poison. The children were Wera Wera, a girl aged 14 years, and Jack Ekara, a boy aged six years. Adult natives of the pa, which is situated between Fencourt and Tauwharo, went to another pa at Tauwliare last evening to attend a wedding feast, and the two children were left behind by themselves. When the adults went to call tho children yesterday morning they were dead. On a shelf in the room was a tin containing poison, which had been used for poisoning rabbits. Dr. Todd, of Cambridge, examined the bodies' and expressed the opinion that they had died as a result of consuming some of tho poison.
