EIELSON MISSING
LOST IN THE ARCTIC FUR-HUNTING EXPEDITION (Eloc. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Received December 5,2 p.m.) VANCOUVER, l>ec. 4. A message front Nome* states that Lieutenant Eielson and his mechanic, Covland, have been lost for a fortnight, and all efforts to locate them have failed. Eielson recently made two trips to l,ho steamer Nanuk, which is icebound at North East- Cape, Siberia, and brought to Nome furs worth a, fortune. Lieutenant Eielson became lost on the third trip. There are serious fears that ho has starved or is frozen, though there is always a possibility that the intrepid northerner is hibernating with the Eskimos somewhere during the remainder of the winter.
