The report of the treasurer of the (; ta go University shows a deficit lor the year over all the departments of ±33366. The actual debit at the medical school was £14272. The treasurer comments that with the council unwilling to adopt a system of estimates at the beginning of the year, and acceding to fresh demands during the year, the debit next year, without further assistance, might well be J-JSGCO. He further points out that adequate assistance from the Government should be forthcoming for recognised national schools. Quoting the University. Gbromission’s statement, lie says: “It is obviously unfair that, the needs of a national school should be supplied in part from the funds required lor the maintenance of the local college with which it happens to lie connected.
