Herhert White appeared on a charge of having sold liquor in a no-license area, ami a joint charge of having kept liquor for sale was preferred against him and his wife, Maltha Anne White. j In regard to the first charge, to j winch accused pleaded not guilty, a ! girl of to yave evidence. She said j she had made a statement to the con- j stable that she "had gone to accused's house, for whisky for a man named Hughes. She had made (he .statement j because she was afraid of Hughes. It; was not. true. | Claude. Henry Jackson Hughes gave evidence that he paid £2 to accused for liquor. ; Counsel : Don't you remember being put to bed that night? | Witness: WJiat. ' By him!
