HOARD OF GOVERNORS MEET

The Hoard of Governors of the Gisborne High School met yesterday afternoon, Sir. 1.1. K. Bright, presiding. There were present : Messrs. J. R. Kirk, T. Todd. LV Blackburn, F. W. Nolan, R. Robertson and 'J. Kinder. The Hector, Mr. F. Foote, reported that the attendances totalled as follows: Boys 271, girls 199—total 460. Of these numbers, 24 boys and 13 girls were m the preparatory -department. The epidemic of mumps was slowly working its way through the school, otherwise the attendance was quite satisfactory. The. attendances at the hostels were: Rectory 47, hostel 22.

The Hector asked for authority to spend a small amount, up to £5, in purchasing trees td till in gaps. The portion of the cricket ground round the baths had now been prepared and sown. It would require rolling in about six weeks. The playing field at tne hostel had been rolled and prepared lor hockey.—The expenditure asked for was granted.

The Education Department advised that a grant of £55 had been approved to enable the board to provide cupboards.

It was announced that a donation of £l4 had been received from the Old Students' Association for the bath fund. The secretary reported that the board's general account was in credit to the extent of £7bb, and the loans account had a credit of £2500.
