INJURED IN HEAD-ON SMASH
(Per Press WEAKATANE, this day. A head-on collision occurred between two motor-cycles at Awakeri last evening, the" riders being Horace Johnston, of iulgccnmbc, and ('laud Shephard, of Tarawera. Johnston was taken to Whakatane, where it was found his eye was injured through a. piece of metal from his goggles becoming embedded in it. The meta! could not be extracted and the patient was taken to Auckland at 4 a.m. lo day. Shephard was rendered unconscious, but recovered. Both machines were badly smashed.
