THE MONTHLY MEETING The monthly meeting of the Poverty Bay P.-we, 'Hoard was held to-day, their being present : Messrs P. It. Ball (chairman)', P. S. Ruwen, 1. Mirfield, C. 11. Bridge. A. C. Steele, J. A. Nicol and T. Corson. Leave of absence was granted to absent members. Mr .1. It. Templin. of Messrs Templin and 'J.oogood, consulting engineers, was in attendance. The Borough Council wrote inquiring if the Cover Roard bad any proposals to moke concerning the lighting of the merged area:, at Kaili ami Manga papa. A later letter acknowledged the receipt of a. plan from the Board, and stated (Re Council's decision that a visit, of inspection be made to the added areas, to consider what additional lighting is necessary. With regard to the Board's suggestions as to street lighting in the borough, if had been decided that the Council's finances would not. permit of increased lighting, apart from that already agreed to.—The letter was teceirved. The appointment of the second delegate of the Board to the annual Power Boards' conference was left until later, the chairman being appointed definitely as one delegate. Mr Bull announced that while there was a lot of talk that led to no results, the conferences did a great deal of good. He pointed out that a number of remits received for consideration, if not quite impracticable, would lie most difficult to put into effect. The board confirmed flic offer to the Te Karaka Town Board for street-light-ing, viz., 60 candlepower lamp, £4 per annum; 100 0.p., £4 10s per lamp; 250 (.p., £5 per lamp. The condition was attached that the lamps should be on until midnight while current continues to bo produced from fuel oil, and all night when hydro-electric power is available.
