PUHA v. mangatu;
Two keenly-contested games of football wore witnessed when the Puha senior and junior teams visited Whatatutu to meet the Mnngatu teams on their home ground in matches in connection with the Waikohu sub-Union competitions. The .junior teams showed a marked improvement on their previous play, Mangatu winning by the narrow margin of oto 3. Puha were unfortunate in not. equalising the score with a penalty kick awarded just, at the close of the game.
The senior game opened slowly. Both teams appeared to be too anxious, and fumbled the ball a lot. No score was made during the first halfPuha gaining tlie first points with a fine penally kick front half-way. The reverse seemed to put the Mangatu team on their metal, and some really good play was carried out by their hacks, resulting in three tries. The final score was JJ to 3 in favor of Mangatu.
Mr. Watson controlled the senior game and Mr. McGrannaohan tlie juniors, and their decisions were well received bv spectators and pluvers alike.
