PSEUDO-DETECTIVE FINED (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. Alexander Mulholland , pleaded not guilty in the Police Court to a charge of assuming the designation of " detective.'' He approached two men in a hotel and asked' for their names and addresses, saying he was a detective. A constable was called «nd arrested Mulholfend. One of the men admitted that he regarded: the incident as a joke at the time, and this was the case for the defence, it being stated that the accused was a. steady, reliable man. Mr. R. W. McKean, S.M., said the Act did! not provide for jokes of this kind, and' accused 1 was fined £lO and costs.
