POVERTY BAY ASSOCIATION The Poverty Bay Hockey Association executive met. last evening, Mr. A. Cassin .presiding over a full attendance of delegates. The chairman reported upon the King’s Birthday seven-a-side tournament and stated that it was a financial success. A vote of thanks was passed to the executive responsible for the arrangements. The executive comprised (Messrs. Sim, Henderson, and Smale. In connection with the proposed Saturday men’s competition, it was stated that the matches would be organised if a third team could be got together and members thought there was every likelihood of this being the ease. In the meantime, a ground would be available for practice. On the grounds that the Ruahine Association had not yet had charge of a New Zealand ladies’ tournament and that Poverty Bay had had two in four vears. it was decided to abandon Poverty Bay’s claim to the championship tournament this season in favor of Ruahine and to instruct .the delegates to vote in the following order of preference: Ruahine, Manawatu, Auckland. Applications for the transfers ot It. H. and B. Moore from the Defence Club to Foresters wore granted subject to rule 5. which states . that phi vers transferred are not eligible for play for their new club until 14 days after the last match with their former teams. It, was decided to accept To Karaka Men’s (Hub’s application for admission into the Gisborne competitions and to grant them the average number of points (3) scored by teams already in the competition. To Karaka, Therefore, will start oft with .three points. This team draws a bve this week, however, on account of being drawn against Waerenga-a-hika College, which is now closed for the holidays. In regard to ladies’ trial or representative matches, it was decided, that all players must wear sprigs or bars on their shoes. Affiliation fees were received from puli a, and Rangitoto Ladies’ Clubs. THIS .WEEK’S GAMES This week’s games will be as follows: — Ladies’, Thursday: Kia con A v. Kio Toa B.
