MOTOR-CYCLE CLUB
RUN TO N&ATAPA The first summer run of the Gisborne Sports Motor-Cycle Club was held during the week-end, about 50 enthusiasts journeying out to Ngatapa. Motor-cycle football was one of the principal events, and promises to be a popular game both with the spectators and the players. Two teams were selected, J. Kay, J. Newton, Love, Wylde, and McLeod defeating N. Bull, W. Newton, M. Ludwig, 8. Allan, and F. Truman by four goals to two. Kay and Newton each scored two goals for the winners, and Ludwig and Allan for the losers. Owing to the state of the field, spills were frequent, but no serious mishaps occurred. The wet ground also handicapped the riders in the hill-climbing contest, only two reaching the top after several attempts. These were J. Newton, 7-9 lianeyDavidson, ami J. Kay, 2:] Harle'yDavidson.
Despite the rain in the latter part of the afternoon, further practice in motor-cycle football was indulged in, the rain being unable to dampen th,i ardour of the players.
