AMATEUR ATHLETICS
A- meeting oi the committee of tlio Gisborne Amateur Athletic and Harrier Club was held last evening. Mr. A. W. Mason presiding over a large attendance. In connection with the recent tour of the ladies' team, Mrs. H. F. Forster, chaperon, and Mr. 0. Paltridge, manager, submitted their reports, the chairman and president remarking that tho tour had been a wonderful success.
The Wellington centre N.Z.A.A.A. forwarded the itinerary for the tour of R. W. Lamb, the Australian champion cyclist, but as the date allotted Gisborne was a race day it was decided to a l»ply for further information. A deputation was received from the To Karaka Sports Club in connection with a suitable date for their annual sports meeting. They were allotted January 29, subject to the American tour not eventuating. The chairman was empowered to make suitable arrangements for a function at which the ladies representative team would be entertained. Hie secretary was instructed to inform the Wellington Ladies' Athletic Club that January 8 would be a suitable date for the visit of their team to Gisborne. it also was decided to invito a Hawke's Bay ladies' relay team to compete here against a Poverty Bay B team at tho same meeting. A donation of a handsome cup for minor points in ladies' events was received from Mr. A. C. Swan, who also forwarded a first aid outfit for the use of the club. Tho donor was accorded a vote of thanks. The following new members were elected: Messrs. ,1. ,1. Sythes, J. Egan, Gl W. Anderson, J. Pearson, G. Leach and W. H. McKay.
