AUSTRALIA’S WHEAT
NEW SOUTH WALES CROP INCREASED ACREAGE (Received October 6, noon) SYDNEY, October 6. The official estimate of the area under wheat this season in New South Wales is 3,657,000, of which 3,331.600 is intended for grain. The remainder will be cut for bay. Compared with last year the area sown shows an increase of 960 acres. Heavy rains in March, April and May considerably interfered with sowing, especially m central anil west- districts. The harvest prospects are very bright, and it is anticipated that the average yield will tie fifteen bushels. The State (Cabinet lias stated that there will he. no wheat pool I his season.
