CHILDREN STARVED
SHOCKING ALLEGATIONS PARENTS ON TRIAL (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association., LONDON, October 2. In a Court crowded with hostile neighbors, Janet Jenkiuson and her husband wen? charged at Manchester with cruelty to three children. It was stated that the couple went awav, leaving the children imprisoned for three days in a small bedroom with only nine slices of bread, margarine and water. The door was locked and the handle roped. The children finished the food on the first day and a boy eventually succeeded in attracting the attention of 'the neighbors: The police said the gisl> t.ged. four, whs a mere skeleton .and unable to stand. The prosecuting VolicitQi" explained that the chiklrjJivf were the husband's, not the wite/s, this probably accounting for hepeoriduct. Accused were committed for trial, bail being refused, the Magistrate saying that they would be safer in custody.
