KYNE CUP RE PLAY

THISTLE VICTORIOUS

The replay of the Kvne Cup final, played on Saturday, resulted in a sill) stantial victory for Thistle, who downed their opponents, Harbor Board, to the tune ol three goals to nil.

The play was of a good standard, Harbor Board making a much better display Hum the scores indicate. The trouble with the losers appeared to be among the forwards, who lacked combination, and very seldom were able to penetrate the defence presented by the Thistle hacks. There were open ings for the Harbor men, but they were not quick enough to seize the advantages, and the, opposing halves quickly covered the openings. Downie and B. Waugh were as -usual a reliable pair, and Easton's experience stood to Ills goalkeeping. For the Harbor team, Graham and Bel! set a standard above llie general average of the team, and were always an annoyance to tho Thistle forwards. Welch was a success in goal, hut would have had more chance of coping with the Thistle rushes had his hacks been more active. The Thistle scores were made by Watt, who drew the goalie out and then sent in a fast one; A. Waugh, who finalised a. breakaway from the Thistle end, where Harbor' Board bad been making things very warm for Die leaders; and by Sheppard, who got through the Harbor Board defence while the effect of the sudden set-back was still making itself fell.

Harbor Board were unlucky in many sorties, hv which they endeavored to reduce Tlhistilo’s lead, and /the final whistle found the score 3—o in favor of Thistle.

The cup was presented to the winning side by the donor. Air. M. J. Kyne, who congratulated both teams on the fine exhibition of soccer they had put -up. When a suitable response had been made bv the captain of the winning team, cheers were given heartily for Air. Kvne.
