GALLANT YOUTH GIVES LIFE,

TO SAVE WOMAN

BRISBANE, Nov. 17.—Myers Baacln at Southport, was the scene of a thruling attempted surf rescue which ended tragically this afternoon. Harry Burton, 25, a clerk in the employ of Winchcombc, Carson, Ltd-.. Brisbane, was one of a mixed party which was surfing on Myers Beach, when Miss Ida Johnson, of Brisbane, who was <a fair distance out, was seen to be in difficulties. A heavy undercurrent was running, but Harry Burton phickiiv went to bur assistance. He reached her, and was making for shore when lie, top, was seen to he in difficulties.
