SURF TRAGEDY.
GALLANT YOUTH GIVES LIFE,
TO SAVE WOMAN
BRISBANE, Nov. 17.—Myers Baacln at Southport, was the scene of a thruling attempted surf rescue which ended tragically this afternoon. Harry Burton, 25, a clerk in the employ of Winchcombc, Carson, Ltd-.. Brisbane, was one of a mixed party which was surfing on Myers Beach, when Miss Ida Johnson, of Brisbane, who was <a fair distance out, was seen to be in difficulties. A heavy undercurrent was running, but Harry Burton phickiiv went to bur assistance. He reached her, and was making for shore when lie, top, was seen to he in difficulties. His brother, William Burton, who also was surfing with (lie party, immediately went to his assistance. “I am done.” Havrv said, and \Vil_ lin.ni then took the girl from him and assisted her to the beach. Turning to sea again, he went bach to his brother’s aid. but Harry could not be seen, and all subsequent efforts to locate bis body were fruitless.
