Despite the inclement weather the City Hal was well attended; last evening, on the occasion of the official opening of the bazaar organised by the Catholic community in aid of the church building extension fund. A ready sale was met with, and the tastefully decorated stalls, well stocked with wares of all descriptions. did brisk business throughout, the evening.
The Mayor, Mr George Wildish, officially opened! the fuiictio’n. He congratulated the ladies on the splendid displays. and remarked/ that, it. spoke well for the Catholic community that they should hand themselves together to augment. the funds of such a. laudable objecta? the church- building extension. He wished them every success with the function, and hoped! it, would produce all the revenue that, it was anticipated would he obtained
The stalls wove coiiducted, by the following helpers: Tea-rooms. Mesdames McDonnell. Mitchell, and Dower; Mnkaraka stall, Mesdames Fitzpatrick, Charlej and John Parker; Maneapapn stall, Mcsdames Fogdeti and 1 Ingham; Children of Mary stall, Miss Wall; variety stall. Mesdames Chambers, Whitlock, McDonald, and Arnold.
