THE PALACE. To-night Richard Dix in “Men and Women’’ makes his final appearance at the. Palace. Commencing to-morrow night- the wonderful race track classic, “Gold Heels,” will he presented. It is an adaptation of the famous stage play “Checkers.” Bobby Agnes plays in the much coveted role of “Checkers” Campbell, jockey. It has all the color, thrills, and excitement of the sport, of kings, and ot a jockey who is ruled off the turf because he would not ride a crooked race. He goes to a small town, secures a position in a grocery store, and meets the girl, Perl Barlow. Her father runs the store and owns a horse called Remorse. “Checkers” secs in Remorse great- possibilities, and buys him from Barlow for 30 dollars. Then follow thrilling scene upon scene. The Asquiths will appear again this evening. These artists again were accorded hearty applause last night. Their programme consists of solos sung by Miss Asquith and a soubrette number, while Mr Asquith appears in an imitation of bird and beast. Humorous stories are told, and the final number is a duet.

EVERYBODY’S. A really good holiday attraction occupies pride of place on the programme screening to-night at Everybody's. It is the sparkling, racy comedy “Going Up,” based on the equally famous musical play of the same name. The picture is funny from ’ beginning to end, without a single lagging scene. The screen story might well serve as a mode] for comedy producers. It is coherent, filled with suspense and excitement, while tho laugh provoking situations convert a pretty drama, into a riotous comedy, once more to demonstrate how much more can lie done on the screen than on the stage. The role of Robert Street, fits Douglas Maclean well. There are some rental liable flying scenes in the picture. The supports include “Whv the Rush?” (comedy), “Black Magic” (Rathe Interest) and Rathe Gazette.
