REWARD TO CONVICT.
PROBLEM FOR THE POLICE.
(Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.: LONTJON, Dec. 31. Tho police and Lloyd's underwriters are debating whether they will offer £SOOO reward to a convict for revealing the hiding place of a £40,C00 pearl necklace stolen from Mrs Mango, wife. of_a Greek shipping magnate, on New Year's Night, 1921. A notorious forger, Darton, serving seven years' penar servitude at Parkhurst prison, offers to tell tho place if £SOOO is deposited to his credit in a. London bank. The underwriters have already paid £38,140 insurance. Darton is an educated man of good presence, and claims to have been present at the Savoy when tho necklace was stolen.
