HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
An executive) committee) meeting was held lust night in the Women’s Club rooms. Present: Messrs E. P. Mountiorl (chairman), Mrs. T. H. Garrett, Messrs J. Harvey, G. T. Maunder, W. It. L. Williams, E. 0. Calcott, and H. Johnston. Apologies were received from Messrs M. Davcy and 11. Stubbings. Correspondence) was received and read front Mrs. Hy. White, Mrs. I). Blair, Internal Affairs Department l , Mr. W. Willeox, Mr. R.. J. Tillyard, Royal Horticultural Society. The secretary advised that since the last committee meeting gifts already mentioned had bean made, and tbo executive wish to thank all these donors. Jt was decided to arrange for a judge for the rose show, and the secretary was instructed to write to Auckland. Mrs. T. H. Garrett, Mrs,. J. R. Kirk, and Mr. G. T. Maunder were appointed a sub-committee to have control ro arrangements for supply for the flower stall at the daffiodil show. Messrs J. Harvey and H. Johnston were appointed a sub-committee to have control of the art union. Mr. Mount fort proposed that all accounts when vouched for by the treasurer and secretary bd paid at once, and .such accounts l>e reported to the following committee meeting as having been paid, which was seconded by Mr. J. Harvey and carried, Mr. McKinnon proposed, “That next year we present a silver cup to the Poultry Association in return for their kindness in always lending us their tables.” This was seconded by Mr. W, R, L, Williams and carried, The secretary advised that books of art union tickets bad been posted to all members, and be hoped everyone would do their best to sell the tickets. The secretary advised that since the Ist June 54 new members had been enrolled, and that, the competition in connection! with the five guinea trophy which is to ho won by the member who proposes the most new members by the Ist November was as follows: Mr. W. McKinnon. 19, Mr. G, T. Maunder 14, Mr. H. Johnston 2, Mi's, T, 11, Garrett 1, Mr. 13, P. Mountfort 1, Mr, J. Harvey I. As the secretary is excluded Mr. O. T. Maunder is so far loading. Mr. Williams proposed a vote of thanks to the chair, which terminated tiie meeting.
