RACING PERMITS.
REMIEB 'S FAVORABLE REPLY (Her Press Association. 1 WELLINGTON, this day.
Replying to a deputation from tlt< country racing clubs' conference, Mr. Massoy to-day said that ho sympathised with their requests for more racing iU\yp for country clubs, and a reduction, of taxation. A Bill would be before the House this session. Ho thought Parliament would agree to a reasonable increase in the number of permits. He advised that the more icasonable clubs -were in their requests the more likely it Avas for those requests to be granted. He did not know what position tho Legislative Council would take up as to telegraphing in-
vestments to secretaries of racing clubs. Ho thought, the provision in the law against it did more harm than f.rod, and might very well bo removed.
