HOCKEY ASSOCIATION.
The weekly meeting of the Poverty Bay Hockey Association was held last nigh.. Present: Messrs G. Buscke (chairman), H. Armstrong, O. R. Olsen, Henderson, D. J. Duncan, A. Cassin, It. Sachs, P.Sim, W. Ogilvic, W. Paltridge, J. Mac Donald, and A. Stubbings (hon. secretary). A committee of six was appointed to go into the accounts m connection with the tournament. The committee comprises the chairman and Messrs Stubbings, Armstrong, Ogilvi«, Cassin, Paltridge, and Duncan. An offer of entertainment at afternoon tea* of both representative teams and the executive was received from Miss K. Ferguson, and was accepted with thanks. Mr Stubbings brought up a proposal that tennis courts should be laid down on portions of the Reserve for the use of hockey players and supporters generally, with the sanction of the Borough Council. The project was enthusiastically recdived, and a committee of five, comprising Messrs Stubbings, Armstrong, Cassin, Paltridge and Ogilvie was appointed to go fully into the matter, and to ap- ! proach the Borough Council with a view! to securing sanction for the proposal. ' The Association decided that a framed photograph of the championship team,, mounted with a silver plate suitably m- 1 scribed, shall be presented to each member of the, team. A notice of motion by Mr Henderson, that the previous resolution re "knockout" m the Thursday competition, be rescinded, was seconded by Mr Stubbings, and after discussion was carried. On the motion of Mr Ogilvie, seconded by Mr Olsen, it was decided that a photographic souvenir of the tournament be prepared for presentation to Mr Herron, promoter of the Surprise Packet Day enterprise, aiid to the Cosmopolitan Club, Gisborne, and the Commercial Travellers'' Club, Auckland. Messrs Stubbings, Ogilvie, and Armstrong were appointed a committee to attend to the' matter. On the motion of Mr Olecn, seconded by Mr Paltridge, it was resolved that the appreciation of the Association at the satisfactory control of tho tournament ■ matches by the referees selected by the Referees' Appointment Committee be placed on record m the minutes of the Association. -
