THE KAITI HILL SITE
£100 PER ACRE COMPENSATION,
I ' ■ In 1910 the Gisborno Borough Council I took 17 acres of lajid on the Kaiti Hill •under the Public Works Act, for the purpose of a reservoir, and yesterday ■ the matter of compensation to the own- : ©rs came up for the consideration of the Native Land Court, when Judge Gilfedder presided. Mr. T. A. Coleman represented the ' Borough Council, and Messrs. J. Blair and W. Pitt the owners of the property. Evidence on both sides was given as to the value of the land m question. For the borough Messrs. A. ■&. Wachsmann, J. Coleman, and L. Clayton, Colonel Winter, and the district valuer, gave values ranging from £35 upwards. For the owners Messrs. Tucker, C. E. Piesse, A G. R. Wyllie gave prices ranging from £300 downwards. After hearing further evidence award was given at the rato of £100 per acre, each party to pay its own costa.
