SUPPORTING THE HEROES.

RESPONSE OF LOYAL WORKERS OUTPUT OF MUNITIONS. ' (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) LONDON, July 19. The Press Bureau reports : — Messrs Montagu and MacNamara and Dr Addison attended the Caxton Hall conference, at which were 400 delegates representing 2,000,000 men. Mr Arthur Henderson, M.P., who was chairman, said the Government was aware of the workers' -sacrifices, realising their imperative necessities. Two characteristics of our great offensive were that access to the enemy was only possible by an unlimited expenditure ot munitions,* and also the small proportion of deaths and serious wounds compared with slight wound results, due to our artillery, superiority. Mr Montagu said the Government was endeavoring to release batches of workers without affecting the output of munitions. He read Sir Douglas Haig's message that if the munition workers could see the courage and determination of their comrades in the trenches, the workers, despite their prodigious efforts, would not hesitate to give up their holidays. The conference sent a message to Sir Douglas Haig, promising am increased and continuous output of munition* to enable the army to complete victoriously the task it has so gallantly and successfully begun.
