A LATER EXPLANATION. LONDON, January 22. Sweden's prohibition of wood pulp •has occasioned excitement m newspaper offices. Many private meetings and conferences with the Board of Trade wero held, but some consider the action a, piece of bluff, as there is very little exporting till May. Moreover, a prolonged prohibition would havo d ruinous effect on Sweden. Later.— Advices from the Swedish Board of Trade indicate that the prohibition only affects chemical and not mechanical wood pulp. The prohibition will not be absolute, as exportation i licenses will be granted. (Received January 24, 8.5 a m.) COPENHAGEN, January 23. the Swedish Ministry is calming the anxiety of pulp manufacturers and promising as many export licensee as possible.
