A RUMOR OF 1914. LONDON, January 22. In the House of Commons, Mr McNeill, Unionist member for St. Augustine's, Kent, . asked was Sir Edward Grey aware tbat the French Government during August, 1914, prevented the French admiral pursuing the Goeben and Rreslau, which were sinking and making for Constantinople, because England objected to annoy Turkey. Sir Edward Grey: No. Mr McNeill: The story was circulated amongst the neutral nations. Sir Edward Grey said that he had not heard the story before. Answering a. question, he said he would inquire of the Admiralty.
