DEFENCE FORCES.
The following squadron orders have been issued by Captain C. J. Hamilton, commanding A squadron hnd Te Karaka troop of D, squadron. 9th (WellingtonEast Coast) Mounted Rifles: —
Compulsory parades for June, 1913 : A squadron on Saturday ,' 2lst June, at 2.46 p.m., mounted ; Nos. 1 and 2 troops, at Willan's, Matoki road ; Nos. 3 and 4 troops, at polo paddocks. Programme: Outposts and troop drill (mounted and dismounted). Refresher .course ,for officers and N.C.O.'s. — A refresher course for officers and N.C.O.'s. will be held at Paimerston North from the 7th July to 17th August next. Only a limited number will be able to attend; m the Mounted Rifles the number is limited to 25 from each military district. All officers and N.C.O. _? who are able, to attend, must send their names to the Q.C. squadron before the 17th June, stating how long they will ;be able to attend the course. All those going must attend •for not less than one Week. Railway waf rants and travelling allowances, and camp or field allowances, while m camp will be allowed. .Messing allowances will not be paid if free rations are provided. No pay will be given. A selection from those applying will be made by the O.CI-yeg,iment,.~and those selected will be advised' m due Course.
