(Per Presa^ Association.) WELLINGTON,., this day. The Hospital Committee to-day adopted a resolution that the board agrees to purchase auch leading -lilies 61 drugs and dressings (as may be ap'nroved by the", board's medical superintendent) through a contractor' for 1 all hospitals, provided the cost to the board under the | contract does not exqeed $he cost un-der-the present system .of' buying in the cheapest market. 'The iihairinah (Mr It. C. Kirk) said the motion 1 was the outcome of a resolution submitted by hjiriself 1 at the recent,^pspitals Qanference held in Wellington! It 'haU be^ii found thaj; drugs could' b^' purchased at agreSTly reduced cost by buying *£hem in 'large quantities, and in view of the cost to smaller institutions, as compared with the. Wellington hospital, it .was unanimously agreed by the conference that it wafc very desirable that the Hospital Department should act as a kind of agent j for the whole of the boards 0/ the ! Dominion, and' invite tenders for. all the' leading lines of drugs required; any hospital to acquire its share of drugs at jthe contract price. sThis would mean a large saving to the smaller 1 hospitals, the stipulation being that the > contract price should not be higher to the Wellington board than what it was paying at ,the present time.
