NO-LICENSE CAMPAIGN.

(Special to Herald.) CHRISTCHTJRCH. this day. The first public appearance iii Christ■elnirch of the Rev. H. F. L. Palmer, as a no-license lecturer, was made in Cathedral Square on Sunday evening, when he addressed ' an audience consisting of several hundred people. The lecturer spoke from the eminence of a buggy, to which a remarkably quiet animal was attached. The meeting was rather lively at times, interruptions and interjections more or less to the point being frequent. Demonstrations for, and against Mr Palmer's arguments and deductions alternated each other with plenty of noise, but. there was no actual disturbance. Tlie meeting concluded before 10 o'clock, and the departure, of the lecturer -was sig- , nailed by cheers and. counter cheers.
