LAND BALLOT DUMMYISM.

(Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. A case of alleged dummyism m connection with the recent Crown lands ballot for land m Tokatoka survey district was brought under the notice of the Crown Lands. Board by Commissioime'r McKenzie, who stated that C. H. S. MeKinney had applied for 520 acres of Tokatoka land, and secured 96 acres at the ballot, though he already held 640 acres of first-class land under occupation with right of purchase. McKinney appeared before the Board, and admitted: the fact. He stated that when lie applied for Tokatoka land he overlooked the fact tliat. he held land tinder a previous ballot. In the Tokatoka ballot he acted fora friend, whom he named, to whom he ! intended transferring his holding if successful. He had no intention of doing anything wrong. Hundreds had placed themselves m«, similar position. The Board resolved that the Tokatoka section; m question, and all money paid on it, be forfeited, and that tJie facts be laid before the Commissioner of Lands.
