JAPS CREEPING UP.
BATTERED CONDITION OF PORT ARTHUR.
LONDON, August 24. - A junk which lias arrived at Cliefoo reports that the Japanese liave occupied iUluin, another fort half a. mile to the south-west, and destroyed two forts at Chuochao, witlh the eastern line of fortifications. Tliere is scarcelY a building left undamaged, at Port Arthur. ' Tho Town Hall and one- magazine have been destroyed. Four large warships were damaged m the liarbor. 4§Though Russian accounts from Port Arthur allege that the Japanese are immolating themselves by thousands, the general drift of news show*.* that the attack gains. The Russians describe the repulse of the Japanese on the. 30th at the bayonet's point as another Shipka Pass.
