FRASKRTOWN v. GISBORNE. After being disappointed two days on account of the wet weaiher, Frasertown were able on Saturday to try conclusions with the Gisborne G.C. The weather was glorious, although a stiff wind blowing across the ground made it hard wcyk bowling from the north end. The wicket played well, but being soft underneath, the matting, the ball came off very dowly. The visitors won the toss and sent Crawford and Torr to face the bowling of Gibson and Johnston. Torr made three singles, and was then dismissed .by Gibson. None of the other batsmen were able to make a stand against the two Gisborne bowlers. Crawford made 10, and then sent one into Porter's hands. The innings closed for 17. Johnston and Gibson bowled unchanged, and secured excellent averages. Gisborne followed with Porter and Gibson, who put on 21 for the first wicket. The remaining batsmen only added 20 to the score. F. Cooper proved too deadly with the ball, and came out with seven wickets for 21 runs, Crawford securing the remaining three for 8 runs. . • With 24 behind on. the first innings, Frasertown again went m. . Crawford -and Torr made a very good stand, the former compiling 10 before he was dismussed by Hussey. The latter contributed 25 by very good cricket. Of the remainder, Beckett and Cosgroye were the only ones to help* their side materially. In this innings Gibson and Hussey were the most, successful bowlers for Gisborne. Requiring 32 runs to win, Gisborne commenced their second innings. Two wickets fell for 1 run, and things began to look brighter for Frasertown. Gibson, hoover, contributed 10 before the third wicket fell for 16. However, six wickets fell before the 32 was reached, and at the conclusion of play seven wickets had fallen for 37. Thus Gisborne won by three wickets and 6 runs. The visiting team is not a very strong one, and by no means representative of the strength of Frasertown. The members are not< m good practice. The Gisborne players also were disappointing, especially m the field. A great number of easy catches were dropped by them. They were very bad m throwing m, and lost several wickets through this carelessness. The following are the scores : — FRASERTOWN, First Innings.
