Evidence taken at the enquiry into the East Greta colliery accident shows that two miners alleged that the timbers were bent and broken for several days before the accident occurred, and that one of the deceased expressed a determination not to work in the mine until the defect was remedied. The mine manager promised that the timber would be replaced by the end of the week. A witness deposed tluit the acoident occurred at the spot where the timbers were defective.
