(Electric Telegraph— Copyright;— United Press Association.) LONDON. Jan. 18. Sir Thomas Buxton, late Governor of South Australia, has been elected President of the Anti-Slavery Society. Messrs Hariand and Wolff, of Belfast, are building a new cargo boat for the White Star Line larger than the Oceanic, as well as three liners 600 feet in length. The strike at Wapping has ended, the masters having conceded the non-Unionists' demands. John Daly, a released prisoner, with twenty-four supporters has been elected at the Limerick municipal elections, controlling the power in the urban district council. (Received Jan. 19, 10.35 a.m.) William Johnston was sentenced to seven years' imprisonment for theft of the Duchess of Sutherland's jewels. He refused to make any revelations in regard to the murder. Six members of the Legislature of British Columbia have resigned in consequence of disclosures recently made, in which they were accused of having supplied goods to the Government.
