Tlio hint wave has returned, and tlie thermometer registered 102 degrees in the shade in the city yesterday. Much damage has been clone by bush fires in the Daylesford, Maldan, and Buninyong districts. SYDNEY. Jax. 9. The damage by Conuell's fire is estimated at £20,000. The South British have a line of £4000, the New Zealand £1500, and the National £300. Jan. 10. — Twenty-four vessels were wrecked on the New South Wales coast last year, and 79 lives were lost. . KALGOORLIE, Jan. 10. A Goldflelds Electro-motive Power Company is being formed with a capital of half-a-million, to establish a central power station. The local goldfields are claimed to be the largest of the kind in the world.
